About Deva

Before the film’s release, Shahid Kapoor spoke about comparisons between Deva and his past hit Kabir Singh. He said, “Deva is completely different. It’s an intense character, but there is no similarity with Kabir Singh.” The film received mixed reviews, but Shahid’s performance was appreciated.

Deva is based on the 2013 Malayalam movie Mumbai Police, also directed by Rosshan Andrrews and starring Prithviraj Sukumaran. The story, especially the climax, has been changed to add a new twist. In the film, Shahid plays ACP Dev Ambre, a police officer who loses his memory while investigating his best friend’s murder. Pooja Hegde plays his girlfriend, a reporter named Diya Sathaye. Pavail Gulati and Kubbra Sait also have important roles in the film.
