Cast

With all these talented people in the movie, it’s no wonder Varshal is going to be a big success. The cast delivers solid performances, with standing out in their roles.

Review

The work was not completed at the time Krishna Vamsi roped in Prakash Raj to play the title role. Prakash Raj has brought his entire experience for Rangamarthanda. Prakash Raj’s performance is not less than his enthralling performance in Kanchivaram that earned him an award for National finest Actor Award. Imagine a different actor then Prakash Raj in the role of Raghava Rao is a challenge. The level of skill displayed by the veteran actor. It’s been quite a while since the versatile actor had an opportunity to showcase himself to his best as well. Prakash Raj has ensured his performances will remain in the hearts of people for many years.

The emotion is portrayed beautifully in the film. The second half of the film is a swell of emotional scenes and film’s director Krishna Vamsi leaves his mark on this subject. How do theatre performers who are not aware of their work express their sorrow or anger? This has been shown in a heartbreaking way. The finale is a world different.

Talented actors who are good in comedy can perform well when it comes to emotional scenes. Brahmanandam does just that in Rangamarthanda. Being able to have the legendary comedian on the screen with an array of emotions is another major benefit for the movie.

While Brahmi is hilarious in a few scenes and throws some funny punches in the beginning however, his performance of awe-inspiring quality in the second half will leave the viewers’ eyes weep. A touching moment with Prakash Raj and Brahmanandam in the second part, followed by a emotional and single-shot sequence that will leave viewers in an euphoria and laughter.

Ramya Krishnan’s role as a homemaker expertly supported Prakash Raj and played her part to the highest level. Shivathmika Rajasekhar plays naturally in her character and adds depth to the action. Anasuya Bharadwaj Rahul Sipligunj and Aadarsh Balakrishna are all very effective in their roles.

The battle the actors face to entertain the audience is beautifully illustrated with the help from Megastar Chiranjeevi. Chiru’s amazing voiceover will make viewers bind their attention to the screens by the title cards. The film addresses numerous important issues that are an integral part of our lives. It also has a touching and timely message within Rangamarthanda.

Weak Performances

Although the emotion that is conveyed are wonderful, the narrative is reminiscent of older films such as Samsaram Okha Chadarangam. If you haven’t seen these types of films the story is excellent, however for other viewers the story becomes predictable and the movie can be a bit predictable at times.

The first half is in a slow manner, and there are some delays in this one time. The editors could have cut the film to keep it moving at a fast pace. The old-fashioned style of presentation is evident at moments. Additionally, there’s some inconsistency within the story.

Behind the Scenes

Maestro Ilaiyaraaja sang beautiful songs and some would echo throughout the film. The song for the party composed by the Maestro was awe-inspiring and it was fun listening to Prakash Raj dancing. Cinematography by Raj K Nalli is decent. The production quality is decent. The editing is acceptable. Dialogues written by Aakella Siva Prasad are memorable and can make you think.

After a long period the Director Krishna Vamsi showcased his mark with Rangamarthanda. He was a master of his craft and conveyed the emotion in an impressive way. The accurate part is the situational humor. The action in the second half is sure to resonate with audiences of all ages. The casting was impeccable and the way Krishna Vamsi extracted performances from all actors is admirable. As we’ve said earlier the scenes are guessed beforehand and the film often gets sluggish.

Trailer

Conclusion

In the Conclusion, Rangamarthanda is a watchable story about a stage artist. The film rides high on the amazing performance by Prakash Raj and Brahmanandam and the tension in the second part. However, the predictability factor and the lagging narration can ruin the enjoyment to a certain extent. However, the film can be offered a chance to test its emotional impact.
