Jealousy and insecurity are common human emotions, but they seem to be even more pronounced in the world of showbiz. Raveena Tandon, a renowned Indian actress, once opened up about how these emotions led to her being replaced in several films. In the 90s, Raveena was one of the most sought-after actresses, starring in a variety of successful films. After a brief break from the industry, she made a strong comeback and continues to remain active in her career. Read on to know more about her story. Raveena’s father, Ravi Tandon, was a prominent Indian director and producer known for films such as Khel Khel Mein, Anhonee, Majboor, Khud-daar, and Zindagi. Raveena starred in some of the biggest commercial hits of her time, including Mohra, Ziddi, and Dilwale. She quickly rose to become one of the leading actresses of the 90s. Today, her daughter, Rasha Thadani, has made her debut in the film Azaad, directed by Abhishek Kapoor and starring Ajay Devgn. The film released recently on Friday.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan a few years ago, Raveena shared how she was replaced in multiple films due to the insecurities of her co-star’s girlfriend. The KGF Chapter 2 actress revealed, “I was deliberately replaced because this girl didn’t like me and was insecure. She was dating a hero at the time and pressured him to replace me because we were a hit pair. She insisted on getting me replaced with other heroines, which cost me 1 or 2 films.”
Tandon went on to share another instance where the same girlfriend forced a hero to remove her from another film. She explained, “Then, she pressured another hero I worked with to replace me from a different movie. That hero later came to me and said, ‘I was part of your old gang, and you told me to replace her. But now the director thinks we should be loyal to you.’”
Ironically, the actor was later dumped by the girlfriend and came back to Raveena, asking her to join a film that his ex-girlfriend had walked out of. Raveena laughed as she recalled, “A few years later, she dumped him, and he came back to me, asking, ‘Can you please join this film? She left it midway.’ I said, ‘I told you before—her nature is such.’ It was quite funny, but it didn’t affect me much. I believe there’s a certain path that destiny takes you on.”
On the work front, Raveena Tandon’s most recent appearance was in the 2024 film Ghudchadi.
