“Vin Diesel & Dwayne Johnson’s Golden Globes Moment: Producers Surprised?”

The 2025 Golden Globes ceremony recently wrapped up, delivering plenty of memorable moments throughout the evening. From Zendaya showing off her engagement ring to Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet’s PDA, there was no shortage of surprises. Host Nikki Glaser took playful jabs at Ben Affleck, Diddy, and Benny Blanco, while Demi Moore won her first Golden Globe. However, one unexpected moment involving Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson caught everyone off guard, especially the producers. Here’s what happened and how it unfolded.

Vin Diesel & Dwayne Johnson’s Golden Globes Moment

Vin Diesel was on stage to present the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement Award, which went to Wicked. Before announcing the winner, Vin surprised everyone by greeting Dwayne Johnson, with whom he had a rocky relationship in the past. “Hey, Dwayne,” Vin said, to which Dwayne smiled in response. This unscripted exchange was completely unexpected and left both the audience and producers surprised.

The moment was so impromptu that it caught the attention of the Golden Globe producers, who weren’t prepared for it. Glenn Weiss, the executive producer of the telecast, later spoke to Variety about the surprising encounter between the two actors.

Glenn Weiss explained that the production team was unsure how things would go when Vin initiated the greeting. “It keeps you gripped. Even you in the press room, us in the truck, are going, ‘Wait, what? What’s happening?'” he said. He went on to share how important it was for the live show to let the audience interpret the moment for themselves. “What is the exchange going on between them? I think it’s essential to show what’s happening in the room,” Glenn explained.

Dwayne Johnson & Vin Diesel’s Hot-and-Cold History

This friendly exchange comes after years of tension between Vin and Dwayne, dating back to the filming of The Fate of the Furious in 2016. At that time, Dwayne posted a now-deleted message on Instagram, implying that some of his male co-stars, including Vin, didn’t act like professionals. “Some conduct themselves as stand-up men and true professionals, while others don’t,” he wrote.

Vin, however, denied these claims, stating that there were no issues between them and that the situation was blown out of proportion. “I don’t think that was his intention,” he commented. Dwayne later revealed that he agreed to return for the film only if he didn’t have any scenes with Vin. However, by 2023, both actors confirmed that they had repaired their relationship, and Dwayne returned to the Fast & Furious franchise, indicating that their bond had healed.

This Golden Globes moment proved that things had truly changed between the two stars, much to the surprise of everyone watching.
